Sam Poueu And Stephanie Anderson Of 'Biggest Loser' Divorce Two Months Before Birth Of First Child
The former "Biggest Loser" contestants who met on the reality show and fell in love are getting a divorce, just a year after they got married and two months before their child is due.
Sam Poueu, 28, and Stephanie Anderson, 32, participated on the ninth season on NBC’s weight-loss series, which aired in 2010. They began dating and soon fell in love.
Poueu proposed to his girlfriend during a special episode on the show’s ranch in Calabasas, Calif.
After the proposal, Poueu suffered a near-death experience, falling from the roof of a friend’s four-story building in September 2011. He was in critical condition and treated for a pelvic injury, a brain injury, torn ligaments, a punctured lung and a broken leg, TMZ reported. While he endured a three-month recovery, Anderson stayed by his side. They married in May 2012.
In January of this year, it was announced that the two were expecting their first child, a boy, in July.
"Just from the experience of her being my caretaker post-accident, it was a dead giveaway that she'd be a fantastic mother," he told Us Weekly. "That was an early sign for me that our child is going to have the best mother ever.
Given everything we both have been through this past year, this [pregnancy] eclipsed everything. It put everything back into perspective. I felt like this was one of the many reasons God kept me alive during the five-story fall, so I could be the father of my wife's baby,” he continued.
But the couple is splitting months before Anderson is due to give birth.
"It is with great sadness that my marriage to Sam Poueu is ending," Anderson told Us. "Thank you in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time." It is unclear why the relationship fell apart.
