Sam Smith's New Song With Disclosure Is Here And Its Called 'Omen' [Watch Video]
Singer Sam Smith is back to serenade his fans with his latest song, “Omen.” The British singer has teamed up with his “Latch” collaborators Disclosure and come out with a catchy music video for the single.
“Can’t contain my excitement, I hope you all love it,” Smith tweeted, posting a link to his new song, which can be seen below. The brand new single will be featured in Disclosure's upcoming album “Caracal,” Direct Lyrics is writing. “Omen” is the second part of the dystopian science fiction story that narrates the tale of a girl named Mariella who makes way through a dystopian society, the website said.
Directed by Ryan Hope, the second video of the four-part series shows Smith belting out the lyrics standing in what looks like a dance club as Mariella meets various people and shakes a leg with them. As the music video ends, the director promises to continue the story with his “To be continued” tag. The first part of the video series was titled “Holding On.”
Smith, 23, first collaborated with the British electronic duo Disclosure in 2012 when he had yet to gain popularity. The duo released “Latch” -- the success of the which catapulted him to being a famous singer. While “Latch” was a chart topper all around the globe, the new single is generating a good response from various music critics.
“ 'Omen' is slower and funkier than its predecessor, with warped synths that tug and twist instead of twinkle, but success clearly hasn’t stopped the Brits from recapturing the magic of their breakthrough hit,” Time reported.
“Omen” is the official first single from Disclosure’s second studio album “Caracal,” which is scheduled for a Sept. 25 release via Interscope Records. “Caracal” is also a follow-up of their 2013 debut album “Settle.” Disclosure also premiered another song titled “Moving Mountains” from their new album last week. In addition to Smith, “Caracal” will also feature other artists including Lion Babe, London pop singer Brendan Reilly and Kwabs, Consequence of Sound said.
