Same-Sex Couple Weds in Nepal [PICTURES]

Last Monday, an American same-sex couple wed in a temple in Katmandu, following the traditional Hindu guidelines.

The American couple - Sarah Welton, 48 and Courtney Mitchell, 41- live in Colorado where they can be domestic partners.

Although not legally married in Nepal, they commented to CNN that we feel that our marriage is 100 percent official.

Mitchell worked for the Peace Corps in Nepal and fell in love with the country.

I have always loved Nepal and wanted to bring Sarah here, Mitchell told CNN. I also wanted to be part of the success of the movement in Nepal for sexual minorities.
