Samsung Android Security Patch For Galaxy S7 And Galaxy S7 Edge Now Available In India
Android’s monthly security update for December is making its rounds on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India. The software should be hitting handsets wirelessly as of Friday, but may take several days to roll out on all devices.
To check manually if the security update is ready for download users can access Settings > About Device > Software Update. Users should ideally install the software via Wi-Fi with handsets charged to at least 50 percent.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is receiving software version G930XXU1BPL2 while the Galaxy S7 Ege is receiving version G935XXU1BPL2. SamMobile shared screencaps of the update, which detail users can expect a number of stability improvements and bug fixes.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge likely won’t receive any major software changed until they update to Android Nougat. Samsung is currently beta testing Android 7.1.1 software for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch (S7 Edge, 5.5-inch dual-curved) Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, a 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal storage options with expandable storage up to 256GB, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, both with f/1.7 aperture, a 3,000mAh battery (S7 Edge, 3,600mAh) and the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
