Samsung Elec says Q3 handset sales to top 40 mln
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., the world's third-biggest mobile phone maker, said on Monday it expected to sell more than 40 million mobile handsets in the third quarter.
We are achieving a steady increase in sales by making an all-out effort to offer a variety of products in a variety of markets, Choi Gee-sung, president of Samsung's telecommunications unit said in a statement.
The company, which sold a record 37.4 million handsets in the second quarter, has said it aimed to sell more than 150 million units in 2007, up from 114 million in 2006.
Samsung, which competes with market leader Nokia and close rival Motorola Inc., is trying to regain market share with stylish slim phones, advanced mobile devices as well as lower-cost models.
