Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 New Specs Surface In Benchmark
The 2018 Galaxy A7 has surfaced on a benchmark, which suggests the device will have mix of mid-range and high-end features. According to a listing from Geekbench, the smartphone may include a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 resolution) display, a 1.6GHz Exynos 7885 octa-core chip and 6GB of RAM.
The Galaxy A series often holds hints for features consumers could expect on future smartphones. The Galaxy A7 including 6GB of RAM could be an indication that the Galaxy S9 may include 6GB of RAM when it launches in 2018. Though the Galaxy Note 8 already features 6GB of RAM, the new Galaxy A7 could be seen as having more in common with the Galaxy S series due to neither series including an S-Pen.
The benchmark did not reveal other feature details enthusiasts often covet, such as battery capacity or operating system. It will be interesting to see whether the Galaxy A7 2018 includes a large battery to match its display. The Galaxy A7 2017 features a 3,600 mAh battery with a 5.7-inch display. Consumers have seen Samsung introduce devices with batteries up to 4,000mAh, such as the Galaxy S8 Active and the Galaxy C9 Pro.
With the Galaxy A series being a mish-mosh between the high-end and the mid-range, Samsung could easily play it safe with a smaller battery on the Galaxy A7, much as it's done with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 or it could test the device with a larger battery and premium glass and metal features. If the latter happens, it could be an indication of larger batteries for future flagships like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9.
Rumors suggest the device may release with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and should be eligible for an Android Oreo update at some point. Users may also be able to access Samsung’s Bixby AI assistant on the phone.
Samsung typically releases yearly updates to the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 smartphones as well. Recent reports suggest the Galaxy A5 may feature an 18:9:5 aspect ratio, making it an infinity display, similar to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. The display is not expected to be curved.
The Galaxy A8 2018 and other A series devices will likely release before the end of the year. The smartphones are usually advertised to Asian markets and Europe.
