Samsung Galaxy A8s, Huawei Nova 4 Launch Dates Officially Revealed
Huawei and Samsung are both expected to launch brand-new smartphones that feature circular display cutouts. Now, both companies have revealed the launch dates for their smartphones and it looks like Samsung will be the first to hog the spotlight.
Samsung has posted a promotional image on its official Weibo page that features the Galaxy A8s. The photo shows the front panel of the handset and it seemingly confirms the inclusion of an Infinity O display that has a cutout for the front-facing camera. The promo image also states that the device will launch on Dec. 10 at an event in China.
There have been several leaks detailing the specs of the Samsung Galaxy A8s. The upcoming handset is expected to have a 6.3-inch 2340 x 1080 LCD display with a screen aspect ratio of 19.5:9, according to GSM Arena. The front-facing camera is also expected to be equipped with a 24-megapixel sensor.
The device is believed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor with up to 6GB of RAM. It is also said to come with a 3,000mAh battery. The upcoming Galaxy phone is also expected to feature a set of triple rear cameras that will be vertically aligned like the ones found on the Galaxy A7 (2018). Unfortunately, the device won’t feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, but will have a rear-mounted sensor instead.
As for Huawei, the Chinese phone maker also published a promotional image for its upcoming smartphone and it looks nearly identical to Samsung’s. The image shows the front panel of the Huawei Nova 4 and the circular cutout near the upper left corner of the display is clearly visible. The promo image confirms that the device will be officially announced in China on Dec. 17, one week after Samsung launches the Galaxy A8s.
The Huawei Nova 4 is believed to be a direct successor to the Nova 3. Unfortunately, there’s no information yet on the exact screen size of its LCD display. MySmartPrice speculates that the device might be powered by the Kirin 980 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Like the Nova 3, the Nova 4 might be equipped with dual cameras on its back.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s will likely be released in China first prior to making a worldwide debut. As for the Huawei Nova 4, there’s no way of telling if it will ever reach the United States. If it does, it won’t be available through any of the major carriers.
