Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite Release Date Coming? Low-Cost, High-End Galaxy Note 3 Variant Reportedly In Mass Production
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite may be heading our way soon as reports indicate the rumored device entered mass production on Thursday.
According to ETNews, Samsung expects the Galaxy Note 3 Lite to make up at least 30 percent of its total Galaxy Note 3 sales, indicating that the Korean manufacturer has high hopes for the Note 3 variant. The original Note 3 is already selling extremely well, having reached its 10 million-unit milestone after just two months on the market.
The Galaxy Note 3 Lite will likely be priced at a fraction of the cost of the original Note 3, which may make it appealing to customers who were interested in the Note 3 but couldn't handle the high price tag. The Galaxy Note 3 currently sells for about $300 with a two-year contract and about $700 off contract on most carriers.
The Galaxy Note 3 Lite is expected to maintain the current flagship’s 5.68-inch display size and S-Pen functionality; however, its "Lite" specs will likely include an LCD display instead of AMOLED and an 8-megapixel camera rather than a 13-megapixel one. The Note 3 Lite will likely also feature a less powerful processor, less internal storage and less RAM. We similarly saw the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini feature a qHD Super AMOLED screen, 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 8GB internal storage and 1.5GB of RAM with microSD support for up to 64GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel rear camera and a 1,900mah battery -- a slight drop from the current high-end specs featured on the original Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S4 mini is described as “compact yet extremely powerful.”
SamMobile first broke the news about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite, projecting that the device would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in early 2014 and may hit markets between February and March. Evidence of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite’s existence includes the discovery of a new Samsung model number, SM-N7505, which surfaced on shipping manifests for the manufacturer. Of course, with no word from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite cannot be confirmed, but reports will likely solidify as its prospective release date nears.
