Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Android 7.0 Nougat Release Date Could Hit Before 2016 Ends

The Android 7.0 Nougat rollout for the Galaxy Note 7 could begin as soon as October, according to Samsung Electronics President of Mobile Communications Koh Dong-jin. The executive revealed the manufacturer’s plans to begin beta testing the system soon, before official updates begin.

"It is very important for us to offer up-to-date information with the new OS, but what's more crucial is to build a stable and seamless platform for users," Samsung Electronics President of Mobile Communications Koh Dong-jin said at a Galaxy Note 7 press conference last Thursday, according to Korea Times.

Pundits believe Android 7.0 will hit international models of the Galaxy Note 7, such as handsets in Korea, during the early rollout phases. Markets including the U.S. may get the software months later, possibly sometime in 2017. Android updates for the U.S. are often dependent on carriers. AT&T only updated its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ handsets to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in June, for example. Android Marshmallow first released in October 2015.

Android 7.0 Nougat hasn’t yet released; however, Google promised an official rollout before the end of the summer.
