Samsung Galaxy S10 vs. Xiaomi Mi 9: Specs, Features And Prices Compared
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S10 smartphone in the U.S. Rival brand Xiaomi also announced the Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship phone on the same day. Here is a comparison between the specs, features and pricing of the Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi 9.
Design and Display
The Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi 9 both feature a glass rear and aluminum frame. The S10 houses a 6.1-inch curved AMOLED display that supports quad HD+ resolution. On the other side, the Xiaomi Mi 9’s 6.39-inch flat S-AMOLED display with waterdrop notch supports full HD+ resolution. Both phones feature Gorilla Glass 6 protection for their displays.
Processor, Storage and OS
The 7nm Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi 9. In EMEA markets, the S10 will be available with Exynos 9820 chipset, while in other markets including the U.S., its SD855 variant will be sold.
The Galaxy S10 comes with up to 512GB storage and microSD card slot. The Mi 9 has internal storage of 128GB and lacks support for external storage. Both smartphones are loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. The S10 includes One UI interface whereas MIUI 110 is available on the Mi 9.
Cameras and Other Features
The Galaxy S10 features a triple camera setup on its rear that comprises of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor. The camera features available on the S10 include dual OIS and 2x optical zoom. It comes with an autofocus enabled 10-megapixel selfie shooter.
The triple camera setup available on the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The Mi 9 offers camera features such as laser autofocus and 2x optical zoom. For capturing selfies, its equipped with 20-megapixel front camera.
The Galaxy S10 has 3,400mAh battery with 15W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. A slightly smaller 3,300mAh battery with 27W fast charging and 20W wireless charging is packed inside the Xiaomi Mi 9. The Galaxy S10 has 3.5mm headphone jack, but the Mi 9 lacks it.
Variants and Price
The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 512GB storage editions of the Galaxy S10 are respectively priced at $899 and $1,149. The S10 pre-orders have begun in the U.S., and it will be in the stores on March 8, GSM Arena reported.
The 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB editions of the Xiaomi Mi 9 are respectively priced at 2,999 Yuan ($446) and 3,299 Yuan ($490), Gizmo China reported. There is no word on the international availability of the Mi 9.
