Samsung Galaxy S3 to be Released in June? Roundup of Speculated Features

The Samsung Galaxy S3 rumor mill is gathering plenty of momentum these days. The latest buzz is that the Galaxy smartphone is already in the production and will hit the market in June this year.

Android Spin Web site March 13 said that S3 was in production and will be releasing next month or, at latest, in May. The same Web site next morning claimed that the release would take place not in May but in June.

Samsung fans are keen to nab a few Apple loyalists with its next flagship device dubbed as Galaxy S3.

Galaxy S3 and Other Release Date Rumors

Fatty tales about the release date of Galaxy S3 is not landing on our doorstep for the first time. Smartphones from all over the world were almost holding their breath to witness the rumored launch of Samsung's hotly-anticipated device at this year's Mobile World Congress that took place in February, same as the S2 had been released the previous year. But the company finally did not unveil the device at the event and disappointed millions of its fans.

On March 13, notorious and certainly (in)famous Russian blogger and hit-or-miss phone tipster Eldar Murtazin tweeted saying Galaxy S3 had been finalized and gone for production.

A few weeks ago, ZDNet Korea also made a similar claim confirming the release date as indeed next month, in April. The company also informed that the phone will go on sale sometime in July, to tie in with Samsung's sponsorship of the Olympic Games that will kick off in London.

This information was backed up by the claims made by South African network Cell C, which confirmed that the Galaxy S3 will come on various South African networks as soon as June of this year.

Rumored Features of Galaxy S3

Thanks to the success of its flagship Galaxy range of smartphones, Samsung is now the biggest smartphone maker in the world. Samsung Galaxy S2, which is considered as the best Android smartphone yet, received overwhelming responses from the Android lovers from around the world. And, now all eyes are set on the device that's till now boasting of only speculated features. But, fans strongly believe that Samsung's latest device will tout some path-breaking features, quad-core processor and a skyrocketing camera of 12 MP and will give Apple something to chew on before the release of iPhone 5 (speculated phone again!).

Let's take a quick look on the speculated features of the phone.

Display - Leaked specs info from BGR indicates that the device will sport a stunning 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus with 1080p (can be 720p too) full HD screen. If the rumor mill is to be believed, Samsung might launch S3 as its first phone with a 3D screen. The S3 will also receive a revamped light and scratch-resistant ceramic encasing.

Processor - The phone will also feature Samsung's quad-core ARM A9-based Exynos 4212 chipset, clocked at a powerful 1.8GHz with 2GB RAM. If the rumors are to be believed, this feature alone will keep the Samsung ahead of any competitor running to win the best smartphone title and that includes the rumored iPhone 5 too.

In another claim made by BGR (yes, once again) a more modest 1.5GHz quad-core has been indicated.

Meanwhile, Samsung is also heard to give a hefty speed boosts on graphics and pack in some battery-friendly power-saving features with its latest device.

Operating System - There's nothing left for anticipation as Samsung will certainly pack Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS with its device. And the S3 is also expected to receive the latest TouchWiz UI version 5.0.

Camera - Rumors are rife that the S3 is likely to pack a 12-megapixel rear camera, a major upgrade from the 8 megapixels in the S2. The camera will also have a 2 megapixel front-facing shooter for video chats.

4G LTE and NFC: S3 will have integrated 4G LTE support and Near Field Communication feature.

Battery: Galaxy S3 is predicted to come with a 2250 mAh battery.

Other features - S3 is expected to come with revolutionary wireless charging, 3D Lenticular image technology, waterproof casings and a built-in bottle opener.

Waves of rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S3 have been hitting smartphone lovers worldwide. While the entire world is suffering from S3 fever, a tipster sent posted a photo (maybe, a fake one) what looks like a press photo of the allegedly final design of the Galaxy S3. The leaked image has been sent to Phone Arena.

Though the sneaking mock-up is convincing enough, yet a close look reveals that the date displayed on the screen is March 22!

Earlier, just before the MWC event, Eldar Murtazin posted an image of S3 on his Twitter page claiming it to be a leaked press shot from an upcoming launch. But the claim was proven false by the Android Community who highlighted the serrated edges that showcased a poor Photoshop job.
