Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date: Amazon Pre-Order Ad Reveals Features, Specs, Price [REPORT]
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has popped up on Amazon's German arm's pre-order, ahead of the anticipated May 3 release date.
While there aren't too many details revealed to quash some of the rumors, the page does reveal that the phone will come with a Super Amoled 4.7-inch display, a 12-megapixel camera and Android's Ice Cream Sandwich. The ad also specifies that the phone will come with 16GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB.
If the Specs listed are accurate, then the Samsung Galaxy S3 will sport one of the best cameras in the smart phone market. Most of Samsung's competitors feature a 8MP camera.
The price of the phone, specified by Amazon in Germany is 599 Euros, but the shipping date for the phone was not listed.
The Amazon pre-order page comes a week after Samsung sent out invitations for a May 3 event in London.
The invitation tagged come and meet the next Galaxy includes large paint-like blobs, which some have interpreted as meaning the phone will feature the same S-Pen Stylus as the Galaxy Note. Another speculation linked to the invitation is that the metallic metal effect on the blue botch could mean Samsung will ditch the plastic case of the S2 for a metallic one.
On Friday, the Verge reported that the S3 isn't the only product Samsung is expected to unveil at the event. The report says Samsung is also gearing up to launch the S-Cloud--its iCloud competitor.
The hype surrounding the next generation Samsung Galaxy phone has reached such heights that it seems fans will be disappointed no matter what the company pulls out of the bag on May 3 in London.
Samsung enthusiasts have been speculating over flexible moving displays and 3D screens, but a new report from CNET claims the new phone will come with minor upgrades and the S3 will be Like the iPhone 4S was to the 4.
An unnamed source in the UK telecoms industry told CNET that the phone will have a speed boost, but nothing beyond the expected. As far as rumors stand the Galaxy S3 will come with a 1.8GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos CPU Processor upgrade.
Eye tracking and a larger screen are among other anticipated upgrades, but nothing ground breaking like a new -curved, thinner design with a bendy flexible screen that some early predictions suggested.
While the U.K source didn't reveal that much to CNET about the specs of the phone, they said that fans should look o the HTC One X for what to expect in the next generation Samsung Galaxy S3, which experts claim will be launched under a different name. Don't expect it to be called the S3, CNET's source said with a sly smile, speculating that Samsung could pull an Apple, by surprising people with the name.
Human Interaction
One surprise Samsung might pull out on release day is an eye-tracking feature, CNET reports. According to their tech blog, Samsung refers to it as Human Interaction, a feature that can detect a person looking at the screen, which unlocks the phone, and then locks it again when the person looks away.
The success of the Galaxy S2 and the delay of S3 has put a lot of pressure on Samsung to deliver a sequel. The S2 was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last year, and was heralded one of the best phones of the year for its sleek design and lightning-fast performance.
