Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. LG Optimus 3D 2: The Droid Battle Continues
Samsung is currently one of the most important smartphone makers in the market and it's of late that Galaxy S2 has seen major popularity over the months. Although the device has been regularly pitted against Apple’s iPhone 4S, there are other smartphones in the market that can prove to be a major challenge for the Galaxy S3, and LG’s recently rumored Optimus 3D 2 is one of them.
Let’s see how the specs compare.
Display: The Galaxy S3 is expected to be about 4.6-inches and will arrive with a Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 720x1280 pixels (319 ppi pixel density). The LG Optimus 3D 2, on the other hand, is said to be a 4.5-inch device that will arrive with a 3D HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720x1280 pixels (326 ppi pixel density). The Optimus is also expected to be 9.8 mm thick and weigh around 140 g.
Operating System: Nothing is official at this point of time for both the devices and it is still uncertain as to what version of Android the devices will run. Many believe that the S3 will run on the same Android v2.3 Gingerbread as that of the current Galaxy S2.
Processor: While some are of the view that the Galaxy S3 will arrive with a dual-core 1.8 GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM, others heavily believe that the device will sport a quad-core processor. The LG Optimus 3D 2, on the other hand, is expected to arrive with a dual core processor with a 1 GB RAM which is quite less compared to the smartphones that are making their way into the market at the moment.
Camera: The LG Optimus 3D 2 is expected to arrive with a primary, rear-facing 8 MP, 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash camera with Stereoscopic photos and videos, Geo-tagging and video capabilities of 1080p at 30fps with 2D and 3D video stabilization. A secondary front-facing camera for video chat is also expected. The Galaxy S3, however, is expected to sport a superior device and arrive with a primary 12 MP, 4000x3000 pixels, autofocus, LED flash rear-facing camera with Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization and video capabilities of 1080p at 30fps. A front-facing, secondary 2 MP camera is also expected.
WLAN and Bluetooth: The Optimus 3D 2 is said to arrive with WLAN features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and EDR. The Galaxy S3, on the other hand, is expected to feature Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v3.0+HS.
Internal Memory and SD: The Galaxy S3 is said to arrive in both 16GB and 32GB avatars that can later be extended up to another 32GB via microSD cards. The Optimus is also said to feature a 16GB device which can later be extended up to 32GB.
Other Features: It is still uncertain if the Optimus will support the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology thus far, but it is widely believed that the Galaxy S3 will feature the NFC, which, however, will be optional. Both the devices are said to sport a standard Li-lon battery, and although LTE is expected to arrive with the Samsung-made device, nothing can be said about LG Optimus 3D 2.
