Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Release Likely In Few Weeks; Features Include Exynos 5210 Dual-Core Processor, 4.3-Inch Display [Report]
Samsung released the Galaxy S3 Mini smartphone in November, seven months after it launched the Galaxy S3 last May. But, the company may not take such a long time to release the “Mini” version of the latest Galaxy S4, according to a new report.
It has only been a a few days since consumers started getting their hands on the Galaxy S4 and, already a report from Oled-Display.Net has claimed that the release of the Galaxy S4 Mini is just a few weeks away.
Based on a document from Samsung and Korean Investment & Securities, the report says Samsung has confirmed that both the Galaxy S4 and the Mini version of the handset were developed side-by-side nearly from the very beginning. The Galaxy S4 Mini is said to have improved technical specifications in order to help Samsung achieve its “goal to strengthen the mid-range smartphone lineup.”
“Samsung wants to have a major success in the mid-range segment, which means that they want to accelerate the 5.5G OLED line expansion,” the report said.
According to leaked technical details of the Galaxy S4 Mini, the device will likely feature an Exynos 5210 1.6GHz Dual-Core processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with qHD resolution (540×960) and 256 pixels per inch, Android 4.0 Jelly Bean, an 8-megapixel camera and a 2100 mAh battery. While the LTE version of the device is rumored to have 2GB RAM, the 3G version may come with 1GB RAM.
Here is a comparison from Oled-Display.Net:
Although the Oled-Display.Net report mentioned that the Galaxy S4 Mini will have Android 4.0 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box OS, a report from SamMobile stated that the new smartphone may feature Samsung’s own Touch-Wiz UX interface and will run on the latest Android 4.2.2.
The SamMobile report adds that the handset is expected to be released around summer in two colors - black and white.
The Galaxy S4 Mini report in question comes on the heels of another one that has leaked some images claimed to be of the upcoming device. The images, which surfaced on Weibo, showed a 4.3-inch device alongside the 5-inch Galaxy S4.
