Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Rumored For Mid-July Release After Spec Leak From Samsung Code
Clues continue to trickle in about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini -- the latest tidbit of information suggests that the device's features have been approved by Samsung.
The Galaxy S4 Mini will allegedly serve as a compact version of the flagship Galaxy S4 device that has already begun its initial release and will be available in the U.S. in late April.
Previously, the only confirmation about the Galaxy S4 Mini was a photo leak of the device next to its full-size counterpart and a Bloomberg report about Samsung that alluded to the device, but there were no details on specs and features. Now, the Dutch website TechTastic recently leaked a breakdown of the main features on the Galaxy S4 Mini directly from Samsung's UAPROF, or user agent profile, which lists product information for mobile phones and other devices.
While the information from Samsung’s UAPROF does not equivocally confirm what features the device will have, it is a great indicator.
We will likely see on the Galaxy S4 Mini a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 HD display, an 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, AGPS, Android 4.2.2 and Samsung’s Touch Wiz Nature UX, which closely matches rumored specs that surfaced in mid-March.
We may also see one variant with the model number GT-I9190 that will carry a single SIM card and a quad-core processor, one with the model number GT-I9192, called the Galaxy S4 Mini DUOS that will carry a dual SIM card and a dual core processor, and one with the model number GT-I9195 that will have LTE connectivity.
Comparatively, the full-size Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED display and variants with an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, as well as a 13-megapixel camera, among many lofty features. The mini device was essentially developed for consumers that want the Galaxy S series experience but aren't enamored by the gargantuan screen size and equally gargantuan price tag that comes with the flagship device. Most carriers are selling the Galaxy S4 for $199 to $249 with a two-year contract, so there is a lot of room for the Galaxy S4 mini to be priced fairly.
Outside of this and previous leaks, information about the Galaxy S4 Mini remains scarce. Initial rumors suggested a release around week 21, in mid-May, but recent reports from SamMobile suggest the device is delayed until week 29, around mid-July. Nevertheless, all clues point to the Galaxy S4 mini being on its way.
