Samsung Galaxy S6 Android Nougat Update Coming Out Soon?
Samsung always gives preference to its flagship devices in terms of the rollout of Android updates. Since the company has already rolled out the Android Nougat update for its current flagship, the Galaxy S7, it is expected to roll out the update to the previous generation Galaxy S6 devices.
The Android Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 certificate by Wi-Fi Alliance, a non-profit that certifies Wi-Fi products, emerged last Friday.
The Galaxy S6 was among the list of devices expected to receive the update in the first half of 2017. All variants of the device including the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus were included in the lineup.
Android Nougat is expected to bring features such as a multi-window, performance mode and Always On display to the device. The update is also expected to increase download speeds for apps and software updates. Another feature that will come with the update is Samsung Pass, a fingerprint-enabled feature, which will work as a master key for website login on Samsung devices. Users will be able to login to selected websites and apps using just their fingerprint rather than filling in credentials.
Samsung’s 2017 Android Nougat rollout started with the Galaxy S7 on Jan. 17.
