Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Officially Announced; Price, Release Date, Specs, Features
Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, the ruggedized edition of Galaxy S7 flagship, has been officially announced. It will be exclusively available through AT&T from Friday.
The AT&T Galaxy S7 Active features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED shatter-resistant display that comes with an extra layer of polycarbonate. It offers a display resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The shatter-resistant screen will survive drops from a height of 5 feet on a flat surface.
It is powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The native storage of the device is 32GB. The smartphone features a fingerprint scanner embedded under its Home button. It has a rear-facing camera of 12 megapixel that is equipped Dual Pixel technology. It comes preinstalled with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. The smartphone features a 4,000mAh capacity battery.
The Galaxy S7 Active will be exclusively available through AT&T starting June 10. It will be available in three color options: Sandy Gold, Camo Green and Titanium Gray. The IP68 certification ensures that the phone will remain undamaged even if it immersed in 5-feet deep water for up to 30 minutes. According to the Verge, even though the screen size is same as that of Galaxy S7, the Active variant appears taller and wider. It has a metallic frame and soft bumpers on its corners.
The Galaxy S7 Active can be availed through AT&T Next with $26.50 monthly payments for 30 months. Customers can also opt for AT&T Next Every Year with $33.13 monthly payments for 24 months. The smartphone can be purchased outright for $750.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will also be available through different AT&T offers. The carrier is giving away a free Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. Buyers are required to avail qualified wireless services on both Galaxy S7 Active and Gear S2. The carrier has another offer that allows a customer to receive $695 in bill credits over a period of 30 months on purchase of two units of Galaxy S7 Active.
