  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab could launch in early 2022
  • The first foldable tab currently has three design options based on existing patents
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab will provide support for hybrid S pen

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab, the world’s first foldable tablet, could launch anytime soon, sources say. Before the highly anticipated flagship device invades the market, here are a few tidbits on what you need to know about Samsung’s upcoming launch.

Reports claim that after its successful launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z series handsets, Samsung could bring the foldable technology to its next tab line. Sources recently confirmed the reports and said the company is working on a foldable Galaxy tab.

A tipster dubbed Yogesh unveiled that the company's plans to release not only a foldable tablet but a one that could be folded into three.

The source added that the technology could be out in the market in the first quarter of 2022, or from January to March of the said year.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Tab will bring support for the hybrid S pen -- a Bluetooth-enabled stylus that is expected to come with improvements compared to its predecessor. The report added that the first-ever foldable tab will boast a better ultra-thin glass than the existing one, Gizmochina reported.

There are currently three designs surfacing for the upcoming foldable tab based on the currently existing patents. The first one is a two-fold design wherein the tab can be folded like a book.

The second one is the three-fold design where the tab owner can fold the device inwardly. The last one is a similar three-fold design with the option to fold the tab inwardly or outwardly.

Basically, the inward folding design brings better protection for sensitive screens. However, the patents reveal that the outward-folding design provides a space for the hybrid S pen, expected to debut along with the foldable tab.

Two of the patents came directly from Samsung and rumors suggest that the company could adapt up to two designs for the upcoming foldable tab. This is due to the existence of two Samsung foldable phones.

Since it could still be too early to predict, Toms Guide suggests that the upcoming foldable tab will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 successor. Price is also one hard thing to predict, yet reports say it is safe to place it in a four-figure mark based on the current foldable phone pricing.
