KEY POINTS

  • Foldable smartphones are expensive and offer more novel features compared to regular phones
  • Short return periods, along with high prices, can deter consumers from trying them out
  • Samsung has launched a new promotion that will encourage buyers to try foldables out

Samsung has launched a new promo that lets consumers “buy and try” its foldable smartphones.

Foldable smartphones offer perks that regular smartphones do not have. Depending on the form, they can either offer wider displays or a more compact, portable body. Regardless of shape or features, however, one thing’s the same: they’re expensive. Thankfully, there’s a way to try them out with the guarantee of getting one’s money back.

Samsung’s “buy and try” promo applies to the book-like Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G and the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The promo asks buyers to fork out the phone’s actual selling price but gives them the option to return the device within 100 days.

This new promotion should encourage more buyers to try out the new devices to see if it works for them. Normally, smartphone companies and retailers give consumers a shorter window – 14 days, usually – to try out their products. If consumers fail to return the device or accessory within that period, they’ll be stuck with it forever.

Samsung’s new promotion, then, should come as a major incentive to those who want to try out new devices that come in novel form factors. The 100-day trial period should be enough to let buyers know if the device is perfect for their needs, can meet their expectations and is really worth the cost. It’s a very tempting offer, to say the least.

What to expect

As mentioned, interested buyers can buy and try the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G or the Galaxy Z Flip 5G – or both, if they have the money for it. The devices can be purchased at full price or can be acquired via trade-in. Trading in an eligible device can lower prices down by as much as $550 for both devices.

This means the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G can be bought for as low as $1,449.99 or $30.21 per month, payable in 48 months. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G, on the other hand, is cheaper at $649.99 or $18.06 monthly, payable in 36 months.

Those who purchase the devices via trade-in should know that Samsung will not return the device traded in by the customer if it is accepted. Users who return the foldable smartphones within the 100-day trial period will need to get another smartphone instead.
