Samsung's Curved Gaming Monitors Come With Ultrawide 49-Inch Model
Samsung has refreshed it lineup of curved gaming monitors with some new features. The new Samsung curved gaming monitors are available in 27 (C27HG70), 31.5 (C32HG70) and 49-inch (C49HG90) versions, and all three comes with HDR support.
The three new monitors come with the company’s QLED Quantum Dot technology. This delivers a new metal core and supports 125 percent of the sRGB color space and 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. This helps in keeping colors accurate and details crisp even if the monitors are challenged by bright light.
“Gamers want to feel completely immersed when they play, and our new monitors provide the most stunning visuals to deliver the ultimate gaming experience,” VP of product marketing at Samsung Andrew Sivori said. “These QLED gaming monitors represent the future of gaming for both casual and dedicated players alike, and we’re confident that our innovative design and state-of-the-art features will enhance the entire gaming arena.”
All of the three new gaming monitors are also the first to feature AMD’s Radeon FreeSync 2 tech. This ensures that games run smooth without stuttering or screen tearing, and guarantees low-latency gameplay. AMD’s Radeon FreeSync 2 also enables high brightness and contrast, while also deliver deep blacks. Combine this with HDR, Samsung’s new curved monitors should be able to deliver twice the brightness and color than the sRGB standard.
Unfortunately, those who can actually take advantage of AMD’s Radeon FreeSync 2 tech are gamers that have an AMD card that supports it on their gaming PC. Gamers who are using non-AMD graphics cards, like NVIDIAs, can’t fully take advantage of FreeSync 2, according to TechCrunch.
The 27-inch C27HG70 and the 31.5-inch C32HG70 both feature a quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, while the massive 49-inch C49HG90 comes with an unusual, ultra-wide resolution of 3,840 x 1,080. The 49-inch model is really catering to users who are looking for an ultra-wide monitor for some pretty immersive gaming.
All three monitors come with a 1,800R curvature and an ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle. This helps in making sure that gaming content is clearly visible regardless of where the user is. The 49-inch model also seems to be a solution for those user who don’t want to have a multi-display setup for their PC rig.
The 49-inch Samsung C49HG90 also comes equipped with an adjustable stand, while the 27 and 31.5-inch CHG70 models come with a dual-hinge stand so both can easily be pivoted. All three come with one DisplayPort, two HDMI inputs and two USB 3.0 ports, while the 49-inch model comes with an extra mini DisplayPort.
Pricing for Samsung’s new curved gaming monitors aren’t that bad too. The 27-inch model costs $599, the 31.5-inch costs $699 and the 49-inch model costs $1,499.
The 49-inch monitor can be pre-ordered now from Amazon and Micro Center retail stores, while the 32-inch model is exclusive from Newegg. The 27-inch model can only be pre-order from Samsung.com.
