Samuel L. Jackson Says ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Might Not Include Nick Fury
After his absence in “Captain America: Civil War,” many Marvel fans assumed Nick Fury would make his return in “Avengers: Infinity War.” However, actor Samuel L. Jackson has told reporters that he isn’t so sure he is part of the massive cast.
“I haven’t heard from them,” Jackson told MTV while promoting “Kong: Skull Island.” “I don’t know what’s going on yet.”
He echoed the same confusion in an interview with Collider where the reporter also assumed he would appear in the film. “I don’t know. I haven’t seen it. I haven’t heard that. I keep asking, ‘Am I in Infinity War?’” Jackson revealed.
Is the “Pulp Fiction” actor messing with fans or does he really not know? If he actually hasn’t been contacted by Marvel yet, it would seem like Nick Fury isn’t involved in “Avengers: Infinity War.” After all, the movie already started filming in Atlanta. However, Jackson previously seemed sure that the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director would make a comeback.
“I hear I’m around in [‘Avengers’] 3 and 4. I hear I’m back,” he told Collider in the fall.
In any case, it seems like Jackson knows he has a future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently told Hot 97 that he still has two films left in his nine movie contract. He also seemed to hint that he might have some intel on what Fury is up to.
“You didn’t see me in ‘Civil War,’” Jackson said. “I’m still out there trying to figure out what The Skull is going to…”
With that hint, Marvel fans are left wondering if Fury is out fighting the Red Skull, the original “Captain America” villain, in a future MCU movie. Audiences will have to stay tuned to find out.
“Avengers: Infinity War” will be released on May 4, 2018.
