San Antonio Mayor's Car Hit In Shooting, But Not A Target: Report
Two people were injured and the car of the mayor of San Antonio was damaged in a drive-by shooting Monday, Reuters reported. Mayor Ivy Taylor was not a target and was not in the vehicle when it was hit in gang crossfire.
The rear window of a gold 2005 Nissan Altima was shattered, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The car, which was registered to Taylor, reportedly also had a bullet hole in its side panel.
"During the course of this afternoon's shooting, a vehicle belonging to Mayor Taylor and a building associated with her were hit," police said in a statement, according to Reuters. "There is no reason to believe that Mayor Taylor or her property were targets of this attack."
Nearly two dozen shots were fired from a car that carried four gang members who cornered the rival gang and then shot at them, Police Chief William McManus said. One person was shot in the abdomen and the other in the leg. The victims, both men, were in their late teens or early 20s, the Express-News reported.
