San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen Out Indefinitely With Kidney Injury
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is out for an indefinite period due o a kidney injury. One of the most productive WRs in the 2015 NFL regular season, Allen’s absence is seen as a big blow for the Chargers, who are currently in a four-game losing skid.
Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune was one of the first to report the injury while ESPN confirmed the injury.
The 23-year-old Allen has played all the first eight games for the Chargers this season logging in 725 receiving yards on 67 catches with four touchdowns. For his career, in 37 regular season games, he has a total of 2,554 receiving yards on 215 catches with 16 touchdowns.
In addition to Allen being out, the Chargers also have a hurt offfensive line with injuries to Antonio Gates (knee injury) and Ladarius Green (ankle injury).
In other Chargers’ injury news, running back Branden Oliver was on crutches with his right foot in protective boot and battling a turf toe. Oliver’s injury is considered minor but his status for San Diego’s next game, against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 9.
Without Allen, the Chargers will look to Stevie Johnson, Malcom Floyd and Dontrell Inman to get more catches in the upcoming games. The Chargers currently holds a win-loss record of 2-6 for the season, last place in the AFC West.
