The San Francisco 49ers have done all they can to prove that they are legitimate contenders in the 2019 NFL season. The NFC’s lone undefeated team shouldn’t have any problem beating the Washington Redskins in Week 7.

San Francisco has the best record in the conference, sitting atop the NFC West at 5-0. Washington is the worst team in the conference with a 1-5 record. It will go down as one of the season’s biggest mismatches in a game that doesn’t include the Miami Dolphins.

The 49ers are 10-point road favorites against the Redskins, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. The over/under is 40.5.

Washington finally got in the win column last week, defeating Miami 17-16. Almost losing to one of the worst teams in recent NFL history, the Redskins gave no indications that they can compete with San Francisco Sunday afternoon.

It wasn’t long ago that Washington hosted an undefeated team. The Redskins were blown out at home, losing 33-7 to the New England Patriots in Week 5.

Four of Washington’s losses have come by double digits. Their smallest margin of defeat was a 32-27 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the season opener. The Redskins blew a 17-0 first-half lead and needed a garbage-time touchdown with a few seconds left to cover the spread.

San Francisco has catapulted to the top of the league by absolutely destroying bad teams. The 49ers have defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns by an average of 22 points. The 49ers’ only close game was 24-20 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers when San Francisco turned the ball over five times.

Even the Los Angeles Rams couldn’t challenge San Francisco when the division rivals met in Week 6. The 49ers won in L.A. 20-7, limiting Jared Goff to just 78 passing yards.

The 49ers’ defense leads the NFC and only trails the Patriots overall in most major defensive categories. San Francisco ranks first in the conference yards allowed, points allowed and yards per play allowed. No NFL team has surrendered fewer passing yards than the 49ers.

Case Keenum has been picked off four times in his last three starts. He’s in for a long afternoon against a defensive front that’s been dominant and a secondary that has made life very difficult for opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers.

The Redskins have the NFL’s No.27 run defense. The 49ers lead the NFC with 179.8 rushing yards per game.

Washington has given up more than 30 points to all four of their opponents that are .500 or better.

Sunday’s contest could look very much like Washington’s loss to New England just a few weeks ago.

Prediction: San Francisco over Washington, 26-10
