Sarah Ferguson faced harsh criticisms when she left baby Princess Beatrice for a royal tour.

According to Anna Kretschmer, a journalist for Express, a throwback documentary showed how the Duke and Duchess of York went on with their royal tour just weeks after welcoming their firstborn. Princess Beatrice was only 6 weeks old when the couple flew to Australia without her.

“Baby Beatrice was left behind, a decision which was to cause controversy and upset the Duchess,” the narrator of “Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York” said.

Ferguson was photographed spending time with young children during the said tour. However, her very own baby was alone and without parents thousands of miles away.

Ferguson’s decision to join Prince Andrew was condemned by the press. However, some sources said that she really wanted to take Princess Beatrice on the trip. However, Prince Andrew refused.

In an interview with Barbara Walters in 1989, Ferguson reflected on the trip and said that she agreed to join Prince Andrew for a reason.

“After nine months of looking enormous and big and your poor husband has had to look at you like that,” Ferguson said.

“It was his turn. Just to make sure that he knew he was very important,” she added before admitting that the people might be tired of her for always putting her husband first.

Meanwhile, another source said that Ferguson is just not the “totally committed mother type.” The insider claimed that the Duchess of York adored her daughter. However, there are times when she is “more happy to get away.”

Ferguson and Princess Beatrice are very close. Back in March, the mother and daughter were seen at Annabel’s private club in Mayfair with Princess Beatrice’s new boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew and Ferguson remain friends years after their divorce. Just recently, the Duke of York saved his ex-wife after she failed to attend the launch of one of the Children’s Air Ambulance’s new helicopters in the gardens of Lamberth Palace, a charity she has been supporting for many years.

Prince Andrew stepped in for his ex-wife and even delivered a short speech to thank the charity for its amazing work. There were rumors that the Duke and Duchess of York have already rekindled their romance, but they both denied it.
