Sarah Ferguson Had ‘Distraught’ Mid-Air Meltdown For This Reason, Claims Royal Author
Sarah Ferguson reportedly had a “distraught” mid-air meltdown years ago, claims royal author Tina Brown.
In Brown’s book “The Diana Chronicles,” it was revealed that Ferguson was devastated when her alleged scandal was leaked to the media. The mom of two was convinced that she was set up after her photos were stolen by a window cleaner from the top of Steve Wyatt’s wardrobe.
Ferguson wrote in the autobiography “My Story: Sarah the Duchess of York” that the pictures were planted to discredit her. The snaps showed her cavorting by the pool with her arm around Wyatt. A second photo showed Wyatt holding Princess Beatrice in his arms, and this reportedly infuriated Prince Andrew.
The photos made headlines in 1992 just as Ferguson and her dad were about to leave for the United States for a fundraising polo match in Palm Beach, Florida. When Ferguson heard about the news, she was so distraught and had a meltdown coming home.
While on the plane from Miami, journalists saw Prince Andrew’s ex-wife knocking back champagne, throwing wet towels, peanuts and tissues around. She also placed a sick bag over her head and reportedly made strange telephone noises.
Royal correspondent James Whitaker said that Ferguson’s bodyguard at the time revealed that the Duchess of York was deeply troubled. In 1991, Queen Elizabeth II asked Prince Andrew and Ferguson to make up their minds before separating for good, and the Duke of York said that he didn’t need any more time.
“After the Wyatt pictures were published, the Queen could see Andrew’s point,” Brown wrote.
A few months later, Ferguson was involved in another scandal when she was photographed with Wyatt’s friend John Bryan. The racy snaps showed Ferguson and Bryan during their holiday in the South of France. Bryan appeared to be sucking Ferguson’s toe in one of their pictures.
The toe-sucking scandal between Ferguson and Bryan took place six months after Prince Andrew and Ferguson announced their plans to separate. Despite their split, the Duke and Duchess of York have maintained an amicable relationship with each other.
