Sarah Ferguson Lost Weight After Being Given This Cruel Nickname
Sarah Ferguson was motivated to be in her best shape after being called a rude nickname.
The Duchess of York is a former ambassador for Weight Watchers. Ferguson admitted she gained weight while Prince Andrew was away for his naval duties and that her weight yo-yoed. The duchess said in an interview back in 1988 that she weighed 15 stone (209 pounds) at her heaviest.
"The more upset I grew at Andrew's absence, the more I grew," Ferguson recalled (via Daily Express). "I drowned my sorrows in mayonnaise, sausage rolls and sandwiches from M&S."
"Fifteen stone later, the Press in Britain started calling me the Duchess of Pork and said 82 per cent of men would rather sleep with a goat than Fergie," the Duchess of York continued. "It was horrendous and the more I read, the more I believed I was a disaster."
In 2015, Ferguson shed over five pounds and weighed 9.6 stone. Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's mom admitted that she was very happy for her success because initially, she never thought that her efforts would be successful. She was doubtful about losing weight.
"I used to be so angry," Ferguson said in an interview with Hello Magazine. "I believed I was never going to lose the weight, that I had lost control. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes. I was just drowning in eating, drowning in food."
According to Ferguson, she lost weight by cutting out sugar. She also stuck to a straightforward exercise regiment to achieve a slimmer figure.
Just like her mom, Princess Eugenie has lost weight months ahead of her royal wedding. Health experts noticed her slimmer frame and even commended her efforts.
"Princess Eugenie seems to have lost weight in a healthy fashion. Her skin is glowing, she looks fitter and more toned – she's clearly put the work in," said Daria Kantor, the founder and CEO of TruBe.
Jess Tonking, a personal trainer, also noticed Princess Eugenie's weight loss. According to her, the royal looks slimmer just a few weeks following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding.
"Princess Eugenie has a gorgeous shape with all the right curves but it does appear more recently she may have shed some body fat in prep for her wedding," Tonking said about the next royal bride. "I believe she may have lost three per cent body fat (four pounds of fat loss) in the 6 weeks since the Royal wedding."
