Sarah Ferguson Reveals Real Reason Why Her Marriage To Prince Andrew Failed
Sarah Ferguson just revealed the real reason why her marriage to Prince Andrew failed years ago.
While speaking with Modern Hero, the mom of two said that she and Prince Andrew simply didn’t fight for their marriage enough.
“It was really, really difficult and I think I just played into my abandonment and we both agreed that we didn’t fight hard enough to keep it together,” she said.
Following their divorce, Ferguson admitted that she hit rock bottom. “I had completely and utterly destroyed myself – I murdered myself. I must have brought that on for myself, mustn’t I? Because that is how I felt about myself. Self-hatred at its height.”
Despite Prince Andrew and Ferguson’s split, the Duchess of York said that marrying the prince was one of the best decisions she has ever made in her life.
“He is one of the kindest people ever. Certainly, the best thing I have ever done is marry him in 1986. My love for Andrew conquered everything,” she said (via Express).
In related news, Ferguson also made headlines after she talked about the heartbreaking trauma she faced as a child. At the age of 12, the mom of two felt worthless after her mother left her dad due to his affair.
“Suddenly she’d gone and never came back and I never saw her again really. I built a huge wall to the real Sarah. And I believed it was because I was worthless. Why would you leave a child? You wouldn’t,” she said (via Express).
Ferguson’s parents’ split also caused the Duchess of York to resort to binge eating. Luckily for Ferguson, she was able to move past her issues and live a normal life. She is currently living with Prince Andrew at the Royal Lodge despite their divorce.
She and her ex-husband also have a close relationship with their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. And during one of her night outs years ago, Ferguson rode her car and found a sweet note from her daughters stuck on her driver’s seat.
The note simply read, “I love you, Mommy,” and it was written by her daughters.
