Sarah Ferguson reportedly stole the limelight from Princess Diana at one point.

The late Princess of Wales was more popular than Ferguson. In fact, Princes Diana remains the favorite royal even 21 years after her death. However, according to Latifa Yedroudj, a journalist for Express, the Duchess of York was able to steal the attention of the media from Princess Diana for a moment during a holiday trip.

In 1986, Princess Diana and Prince Charles headed to Klosters, Switzerland for a ski holiday. Ferguson, who was still dating Prince Andrew at the time, reportedly showed up unexpectedly alone.

Initially, the Prince and late Princess of Wales wanted to enjoy their privacy and the press were only allowed to take photos at a secret photo call location upon request. However, when Ferguson arrived, she stole the attention from the royal couple. Her presence reportedly "threatened Charles' truce with the media, who pledged to leave him and Diana alone to enjoy their ski holiday."

Despite that, Ferguson and Princess Diana enjoyed their ride on the hill. In fact, they were photographed as if they were fighting while they raced downhill. The future king reportely criticized them for acting childish.

Princess Diana and Ferguson were great friends. In fact, it was the former who introduced the latter to Prince Andrew. The two became even closer when Ferguson married the Duke of York and joined the royal family.

However, both did not have a happy marriage. In fact, Princess Diana and Ferguson reportedly had a divorce pact. The two wanted to leave their royal life and even uses a secret code when they discussed it.

"Tregunter Road was our code for escape,' she once told me, 'it meant our leap for freedom," Richard Kay revealed. "By then, however, her love for Hoare had subsided, but her wish for a life outside the Royal Family had not."

Allan Starkie, the author of "Fergie, Her Secret Life," learned about the royals' divorce pact through Ferguson's lover John Bryan. According to him, Princess Diana and Ferguson were planning to divorce Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, respectively. But the palace convinced them that "it was going to be too destructive for that and it would be staged."

Princess Diana saw how difficult it was when Ferguson and Prince Andrew divorced. So, she delayed her split from Prince Charles, but they eventually still separated their ways.
