Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry and Zack Efron join the cast of 'New Year's Eve'
The cast of New Year’s Eve seems to be expanding with Sarah Jessica Parker, Zac Efron and Halle Berry joining the long list of actors. The movie, a sequel to the Valentine’s Day, has already landed Rober De Niro, Mitchelle Pfieffer, Hilary Swank, Ashton Kutcher, Sofia Vergara from the TV series Modern Family, Jessica Biel, Lea Michele from TV musical Glee and Abigail Breslin.
Valentine's Day's Garry Marshall will return to direct the film. The producers of the sequel are Mike Karz and Wayne Rice.
The film will follow the lives of a diverse group of New Yorkers going through their life crises in the holiday season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new cast will be intertwining into the stories of the existing cast on New Year’s Eve. Jessica Parker will play the needy mother of Breslin’s character, Halle Berry is a caterer who runs into one of her ex-lovers , Efron is a bike messenger who somehow gets involved in one of Michellle Pfeiffer’s New Year resolution bids.
Parker was earlier in the New Line produced Sex and the City movies. She next stars in The Weinstein Company's I Don't Know How She Does It alongside Pierce Brosnan and Kelsey Grammar.
Berry, on the other hand, has been gathering accolades for her performance in the indie movie Frankie and Alice, while Efron is currently shooting Scott Hick's war drama The Lucky One in Louisiana.
Production on New Year's Eve is likely to begin in February with a second unit filming this year's Times Square countdown, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
