  • Sasha Banks was reportedly set to challenge Ronda Rousey prior to the walkout
  • The break-up angle with Naomi was supposed to begin on the May 16 episode of Raw
  • More sanctions could await the pair in the coming days

In the days following the surprising walk out of the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi are certainly feeling its fallout now.

Renowned pro wrestling insider Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported on the latest episode of “Wrestling Observer Radio” that the duo was supposed to break up, with Banks moving over to SmackDown and Naomi staying on Raw.

Both women were supposed to challenge for each brand’s singles titles, with Banks taking on Ronda Rousey while Naomi going to the June 5 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) against Bianca Belair.

“Naomi was going to win the [six-pack challenge] match and she was actually supposed to pin Sasha to win the match, so they were going to be the last two left.… They were not happy with this, because they were going to lose the title matches. They wanted to see Vince. They walked out during the show and put their belts down,” said Meltzer.

Banks and Naomi were put on blast during the broadcast of Raw for walking out a few hours before the show was set to begin.

It was previously reported that Banks has alienated the entire locker room because of her actions, while Naomi remains in the good graces of everyone behind the scenes.

Splitting the Women’s Tag Team Titleholders would have been understandable from a business perspective since both performers can still draw crowds, especially Banks.

However, the pair must have felt some type of way about the thought of letting go of their tag title reign for nothing.

After all, WWE has barely been able to put up notable reigns and the tag team might have wanted to help develop the scene more before going their separate ways.

It is understandable that Banks would not want to relinquish the titles so soon after winning it during WrestleMania 38, but angering upper management might not have been the way to go about things.

Because of how things unfolded and are currently going, it might only be a matter of time before the pair get stripped or forced to lose their titles during a non-PPV outing.

Fans of the WWE, and the pro-wrestling community in general, are eagerly waiting to see what else happens in this sudden issue.
