Over the years, "Saturday Night Live" actors have become well-known for their portrayals of political figures. As a result, the cast members of the NBC show have received mixed feedback when it comes to their impressions of the famous faces. Now, yet another politician has reacted to the sketch comedy show and one cast member's imitation of her.

In a recent sketch that did not air during a live "SNL" broadcast, actress Cecily Strong portrayed Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. While in character, Strong said that governors are "kinda having a moment right now" and discussed a range of topics in the clip, including current events involving President Donald Trump and protestors fighting the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Throughout the clip, which can be seen below, she can also be seen drinking a beer and giving "protest safety tips."

Following the release of the short, Whitmer herself encountered Strong's impersonation, which prompted her to respond in an unexpected way.

As seen on Strong's Instagram, the governor decided to send the "SNL" star a "care package" as a thank you for her work on the NBC sketch comedy show.

"Got a giant and gorgeous Michigan care package sent to New York courtesy of that super cool woman from Michigan ❤️_❤️ Thank you @gewhitmer !!! Honestly, this blew me away! And thank you @sudigreen and @frangillespie for always writing wonderful funny pieces. I’m sorry I can’t share with you in person, so cheers to you from afar!" Strong wrote on Sunday, as seen in the post below.

As previously mentioned, "Saturday Night Live" has continued to wade into the political realm with its wide variety of impressions, including Alec Baldwin's impersonation of President Trump. However, in 2019, the former "30 Rock" actor revealed that he almost walked away from the role, but a specific thing inspired him to continue portraying the former "The Apprentice" star.
