Two window washers were taken to the hospital after a scaffold collapsed at Related Companies’ 30 Hudson Yards on Saturday morning.

The Fire Department of New York received a call about the two workers around 11:22 a.m., the Commercial Observer reports.

“Upon arrival units found a scaffolding with two window washers on it had fallen 20 feet to a lower level and was sitting on a structure on the roof of the 35th floor,” the FDNY said in a statement.

One worker is believed to be in his 20s, and the other employee is reportedly in his 30s. The men fell from the 37th-floor and were injured when scaffolding “malfunctioned,” the NY Post reports.

When responders arrived at the scene of the incident, they were unable to reach the window washers due to the height of the 73-story building. As a result, a hole was cut in the window of the 37th floor to reach the workers below.

Despite the fall, both men were said to be alive and taken to Bellevue Hospital. One man was reported as being in serious but stable condition while the other suffered minor injuries.

The scaffolding incident comes just over a year after the Nov. 11, 2019 scaffolding collapse at 50 Hudson Yards. The accident left three workers with minor injuries, and a fourth was treated for severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
