‘Scandal,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ And ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Air Date Moved From January 19 to 26
“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” fans won’t be pleased to know that the air date for the three hit ABC TV shows have been moved to January 26.
Originally, “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13, episode 10, “Scandal” Season 6, episode 1 and “How to Get Away With Murder” Season 3, episode 10 were supposed to air on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. EST, respectively. However, the shows have been delayed for a week to accommodate the pre-inauguration special for Donald Trump, according to TV Line.
“America’s First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington” will air on Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. EST, after reruns of a “Grey’s Anatomy” and a “Scandal” episode. Even though a new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” could have still been released because of its time slot, ABC network heads decided that all three of Shonda Rhimes’ TV series should air on the network on the same day.
Meanwhile, “Scandal” Season 6, episode 1 will focus on the results of the recent United States elections during its first 10 minutes. In the previous season, Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) decided to run for president. Governor Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) later campaigned against her. Mellie’s vice president was Jake Ballard (Scott Foley), while Governor Vargas’ teammate was Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry).
While speaking with TV Line, executive producer Shonda Rhimes also talked about Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) relationship. Even though the two characters will get some spotlight in the premiere, their scenes will not necessarily focus on their romantic relationship with each other. “We’ve established over the course of five seasons that Olivia Pope is on an evolutionary journey and that journey has nothing to do with boys,” Rhimes said.
