‘Scandal’ Season 7 Production Begins; Darby Stanchfield, Scott Foley Share Photos, Updates
The production for the seventh and final season of “Scandal” has finally commenced!
On Thursday, July 20, cast members Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes and more shared photos from their first table read via social media. Scott Foley also gave fans a short update, saying that they are all back. Stanchfield, who plays the role of Abby Whelan, shared a snap with her female co-stars, Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young and Lowes.

In addition, Lowes uploaded a series of pictures from the set, one of which showed her onscreen husband George Newbern, as well as her former onscreen fling Guillermo Diaz. In the series, Lowes plays the role of Quinn, while Newbern and Diaz play Charlie and Huck, respectively.
On his Twitter account, Diaz retweeted a photo that Lowes took of him and co-star Stanchfield. In the adorable snap, Stanchfield holds Diaz’s beard, while the latter wraps his left arm over her back.
It cannot be denied how close the cast members of “Scandal” are with each other. In fact, Young recently told Variety that one of the things she will miss the most after the series wraps up is working with her friends. Young said that it was bittersweet finding out that Season 7 would be the end for the show.
“We’re really grateful to have this final year. It wasn’t an unexpected announcement by any measure, but it was still so hard to hear… Rather than ask anything about ‘Where is it going?’ or ‘Why did you make this choice?’ all we could think to do was love each other and thank Shonda and pledge to be a family forever. It really has been a journey of love,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rhimes’ Boomerang video from the recent table read also confirmed that Joe Morton will still be part of Season 7. Last season, Olivia Pope’s (Washington) dad told her that he has decided to live a more peaceful life. In the clip, Washington and Morton are seated beside each other.
As of late, the official premiere date for “Scandal” Season 7 hasn’t been announced. But ABC already confirmed that the final season will have 18 episodes.
