'Scarlet Nexus' Combat Guide For Beginners
KEY POINTS
- Upgrade weapons, items and character abilities as frequently as possible in “Scarlet Nexus”
- Treat psychokinesis as a primary damage source and weapon attacks as resource generators
- Certain SAS effects can last entire fights
Combat in “Scarlet Nexus” may seem similar to other fast-paced action games like “Devil May Cry” or “Bayonetta,” but the game is designed with heavy use of powers and supporting abilities in mind, which immediately sets it apart from the competition.
This focus on power usage is crucial to surpassing the game’s challenges, especially for those who are playing “Scarlet Nexus” on the harder levels. Melee combo attacks simply won’t cut it as enemies in “Scarlet Nexus” are tough and require certain tactics to defeat.
For the players who are finding the combat in “Scarlet Nexus” to be a little hard or odd-feeling, here are a few tips on how to deal as much damage as possible.
Upgrade frequently
“Scarlet Nexus” is still an RPG, and players should actively try to upgrade their characters as frequently as they can, whether it be in the form of skill upgrades, weapon enhancements or plug-in purchases.
Upgrading either the basic attack or psychokinesis trees in the Brain Map is highly recommended. Focus on maxing out one tree first, and then do the same for the other. These passive skills will improve a character’s damage output by increasing combo hits or granting special moves that are otherwise unavailable to the player.
Psychokinesis takes priority
When fighting the Others, always make use of Yuito and Kasane’s psychokinetic powers. It’s best to consider these attacks as the characters’ main damage source, while weapon-based attacks are meant to recharge the players’ ability gauge.
Psychokinesis attacks inflict both normal and Crush damage to enemies. Deal enough Crush damage to enemies, and they’ll become vulnerable to special attacks that can either execute or deal significant damage to them. Chain follow-up psychokinesis attacks to deal more damage to single targets and use Brain Crush as often as possible.
Use SAS as much as possible
AI teammates can keep enemies busy and deal small amounts of damage with basic attacks. However, their true strengths lie in their SAS abilities.
The Struggle Arms System lets players use their teammates’ abilities to augment their own, granting them powerful special moves or buffs that can quickly turn the tide of a battle.
Try to keep offensive SAS bonuses like Hanabi or Shiden’s buffs active as much as possible to gain increased elemental damage with attacks. These abilities aren’t terribly taxing on the characters’ SAS gauges, and they’re powerful enough to eliminate weak enemies or severely damage strong ones before running out.
