Scarlett Johansson Hacked: FBI Identifies the Brain Behind Hacking
Naked pictures of Scarlett Johansson have appeared online on Wednesday, after her phone was hacked.
Johansson, star of “The Avengers” and “Lost in Translation,” became the latest celebrity victim to have private photos leaked to the public.
Security specialists said that hackers could steal phone pictures from the Internet easily, and the incident showed how cell phone photos were not secure.
The theft of the pictures, apparently from the actress’ own smartphone, is the latest in a series of hacking attacks against celebrities that led to an FBI investigation, a law enforcement official told The Washington Times.
“The FBI is investigating a person or group responsible for computer intrusions of high-profile figures,” Arielle B. DeKofsky, a spokeswoman for the FBI office in Los Angeles told The Washington Times.
The photos made the rounds online, spreading like wildfire on blogs, news sites, and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The 26 year old actress, who snapped the photos herself, is seen topless on what appears to be an animal skin rug, and also nude in the reflection of a bathroom mirror.
Johansson is one of 50 A-list celebrities who have fallen victim to hacking of cell phones and internet addresses in the recent past.
The FBI has reportedly been investigating hacks into as many as 50 celerity email accounts, including Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba and Mila Kunis.
The FBI has identified the brain behind the hacking and they are in the process of identifying the hackers, TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, sources said the gang earlier gained access to cell phones of other celebrities, including Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Lindsey Vonn, Ali Larter and Emma Caulfield.
