Scarlett Johansson Joins ‘Avengers’ Co-stars Samuel Jackson, Robert Downey Jr. As Highest Grossing Movie Stars
Scarlett Johansson has reached an impressive milestone in her movie career. The actress, along with “Avengers” co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. has been identified as some of the movie industry’s highest grossing stars.
Johansson, who portrayed the Black Widow, Natasha Romanova, in the “Avengers” and “Captain America” film series landed on the tenth spot of Box Office Mojo’s highest grossing movie stars, E!News reported. The actress has garnered a total of $3.33 billion in box office revenue. The “Lucy” star is also the only female actress that made it to the top ten list.
Apart from Johansson, two other “Avengers” stars also landed on Box Office Mojo’s list. Jackson is at the second spot with a box office revenue of $4.64 billion. The actor plays the character Nick Fury in the said film. “Iron Man” actor Downey Jr. landed on the fifth spot with $3.94 billion. On the top of the list is veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford with $4.87 billion. Other actors included in the top five are Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks with box office revenues of $4.43 billion and $4.34 billion, respectively.
The bottom half of the top ten list includes Eddie Murphy with a gross box office revenue of $3.81 billion, while “Mission Impossible” actor Tom Cruise came in at the seventh spot with $3.58 billion. At the eighth and ninth spots are Johnny Depp with $3.36 billion and “The Dark Knight” actor Michael Caine with $3.34 billion.
Meanwhile, Johansson has also signed up to join the upcoming comedy flick “Rock That Body.” The film features the misadventures of a group of five friends whose Miami bachelorette party turns wild, Variety reported. Johansson will star alongside Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer. Filmmaker Lucia Aniello, who directed the movie, also co-wrote the film’s script with Paul W. Downs.
“Rock That Body” has been slated for a June 23, 2017 release.
