A woman found a “scary” creature with human-like teeth in a field in Argentina recently.

Maria Julia Candotti was working in a rice field in the province of Santa Fe when she saw the bizarre-looking creature and photographed it. The creature had a long eel-like body with wrinkled skin. It also had ugly human-like teeth.

“This beautiful travelled down the river to go into the rice field.. we do not know what it is, but it is the second one we have found... be careful,” she wrote on Facebook.

Experts identified the creature as South American lungfish. The fish, also known as American mud fish, was usually found in swamps and slow-moving waters.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Pablo Scarabotti, a scientist with the National Institute of Limnology of Conicet, said the fish was unique to South America. It is usually found in Paraguay, Amazon region and lower Parana River which flows through Brazil and Argentina.

“They build small caves in the mud where they go into and create a kind of cocoon where they can stay for two or three years without needing to go to the surface,” he said.

Their diet includes crabs and snails and their human-like teeth is used to break the shells. The fish can grow over four feet long.

In a similar incident in January, a mysterious "blob-like alien" sea creature left experts baffled. The creature, which had a yellow hue and three segments, was found on the shores of Durras Beach in New South Wales, Australia.

Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre in Eden viewed the photos of the creature and said, "Suggestions included a jellyfish, part of a jellyfish, part of a sea creature, part of a fish, an egg mass, and someone's yellow scarf they dropped last winter.”

"It's an unusual looking thing and it's hard to tell if it's a whole thing or a part of something. It's something not normally seen and therefore it's attracted a lot of attention,” the center manager Kerryn Wood said.

In another similar incident on the same month, a mysterious "sausage-like" creature was found at Victoria’s Lake Bolac, Australia. Guy Shlomi, a traveler found the small sausage-like animal and posted a video of it on Facebook. In the video, the creature with dotted eye and a protruding tail could be seen moving across the surface before settling down in one place.

Speaking to Yahoo7, Shlomi said, “I had never seen something like that so I grabbed him with my hand and showed him to my friends and we started to wonder what it is?”
