An investigation was launched against the students of an Ohio middle school, after they alleged fed their teachers urine- and semen-filled crepes during a cooking competition.

Although the alleged incident took place Thursday at Hyatts Middle School in Powell, Ohio, it was reported Monday by local media outlets. The students were accused of contaminating the food that they served to the staff members, who were judging the “Global Gourmet” competition. Groups who participated in the contest reportedly laced the crepes they prepared with bodily fluids, before serving it to at least five teachers.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted by the school authorities after portions of the alleged acts were recorded on camera and circulated on social media. “One student filmed some of it, and the video made its way around the school and fortunately to school administrators,” said Tracy Whited, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, the Columbus Dispatch reported. “There are multiple students we’re are looking at as suspects. There are multiple victims, all staff.”

No charges have been filed against the suspected students yet, but the sheriff’s office said it was considering bringing felony assault charges once they conclude their investigation, since the alleged incident occurred inside the school premises and targeted teachers.

Brad Koffel, an attorney representing one unidentified student suspected of being involved in the alleged incident, told CBS-affiliated WBNS that the public should apply "caution before reaching any conclusions."

“[The incident] easily could have been a prank that may have been mocked up for the purposes of creating a video,” he added. “We don’t know if urine or semen was ever placed in anyone’s food. I don’t know how the school would know that.”

The Olentangy Schools, the district which manages the middle school where the alleged incident took place, refused to publicly comment on the case. “The safety and security of our students and staff is of utmost importance,” read a statement from the school district, released Monday. “District leadership and local law enforcement are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident, and anyone found in violation of school policies will be held accountable for their actions.”

The substances inside the crepes were sent for laboratory testing, and results were due, the sheriff’s office said.

Jake Vance, 22, who lives in the Kinsale Village community adjacent to the school, said he was shocked to learn about the alleged incident. “I’m honestly just appalled that kids have to resort to this to get social media attention,” he said. “I can’t think of anything even remotely close to this when I went to middle school.”
