School Teacher Allegedly Had Sex With Teen Student, Exchanged Nude Pictures, Video

A high school teacher in Texas was charged with having an improper relationship with a student, after the 15-year-old victim revealed knowledge about tattoos of the suspect that were usually covered under clothing.

Gianna Bednarski, a former Brazosport High School teacher, was arrested from her Rosharon home Tuesday after an investigation into her alleged sexual misconduct was launched in January, following a referral by Child Protective Services. The accused was hired by the institute Aug. 6 and she resigned Jan. 17.

“After receiving information regarding a Brazosport High School teacher having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student, BISD police, administrators and local authorities began an investigation immediately and the teacher was placed on leave,” the Brazosport Independent School District said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle. “As a result of the investigation, the teacher is no longer an employee in the district and has been arrested.”

It added: “Brazosport ISD expects the highest standard of professionalism and integrity from its employees and takes allegations such as these very serious and will always investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. We appreciate the thoroughness and immediate efforts of our administrators and the Brazosport ISD Police Department.”

According to court records, the Bednarski’s alleged misconduct was initially noticed by a BISD officer who escorted the school's varsity and junior varsity basketball teams to a game in Wharton in December. He noticed that the accused began bringing food for only one student in the team – the victim – and also got upset when the teenager talked to girls.

"On at least two occasions, he saw [the student] talking with other female students in the hallways as Bednarski stood in close proximity staring at (the student) with a concerned look on her face as if she was upset," the document said, Click 2 Houston reported.

When the student was questioned about the alleged affair, he denied having any sexual relationship with Bednarski, but gave the police access to his cellphone. A search revealed that the teacher had exchanged an array of texts, emails and Snapchat messages with the victim, including nude pictures and a video she had sent him.

The student eventually decided to revise his statement and admitted to having sex with Bednarski twice in the classroom, including the time he stayed over to receive extra classes from her. He was also able to describe tattoos on parts of the accused’s body which are usually covered by clothing.

Bednarski was let out on a $50,000 bond.

Last week, Shannon Griffin, an English and theater teacher at Jefferson High School, Texas, was arrested for having improper relationship with a male student. She was released on a $20,000 bond, local news outlet East Texas Matters reported.
