Scott Disick recently visited a rehabilitation facility was not because of alcohol or drug abuse, rather, it was for an emotional turmoil.
Disick’s lawyer, Marty Singer, revealed that the 36-year-old TV personality checked himself into the rehabilitation facility to deal with the emotional challenges he suffered following the deaths of his parents, TMZ reported. According to Singer, Disick made this decision so he could deal with the trauma that haunted him for years.
Amid the stay-at-home order in Los Angeles, the “Flip It Like Disick” host reportedly had a realization about how he dealt with the passing of his parents; hence, he went to All Points North Lodge in Edwards, Colorado.
Unfortunately, snaps of Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-husband checking in the rehabilitation facility went viral. Disick’s camp reportedly believed that the leaked photo was taken not by a patient, rather the facility’s staff; hence, the breach of confidentiality.
Since the photo was taken inside the facility, it could be considered as a violation of the Health Insurance Probability and Accountability Act, according to Disick’s lawyer. Accordingly, one of the examples of HIPAA violations on social networks is the sharing of photographs or any form of protected health information without written consent from a patient.
As soon as Disick found out about the photo leak, he reportedly checked himself out of the rehabilitation facility and went back to Los Angeles.
Disick, who has kept the pain over his parents’ deaths, shared his emotional struggle in the latest episode of the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” Kardashian’s ex-husband revealed that the topic about his parents was not easy for him to talk about, Refinery29 reported.
Disick is the only child of Jeffrey and Bonnie Disick. Bonnie died in 2013, while Jeffrey's death was reported in 2014. Both reportedly had illnesses. The specific details of the said illnesses, however, were not disclosed. Disick admitted that talking about his parents’ death placed him in a vulnerable position.
Kardashian’s ex-husband struggled with substance abuse over the years. It was only until he dated his current girlfriend, Sofia Richie, that he became sober. Precisely the reason why Disick’s camp insisted that the TV personality's recent visit to the rehabilitation facility has nothing to do with substance use.
