‘Scream Queens’ Season 2 Spoilers: 5 Things To Know Before The Sept. 20 Premiere Of The FOX Series
Tuesday nights will again be filled with shrieks of terror and laughter as “Scream Queens” returns to FOX tomorrow.
Viewers are in for another crazy ride as a new mystery begins in the campy pastel world of the comedy-horror series inhabited by eccentric characters like the Chanels, Hester Ulrich, Dean Cathy Munsch and many others.
Below are five things to know ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere.
1. New Setting
If Season 1 was set at a university, events in Season 2 are going to take place in a hospital. Years after abolishing the college Greek system during her stint as dean of Wallace University, Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) decides to travel the world in search of a new mission. This leads her to purchase an abandoned hospital under the guise of fixing the healthcare system in America.
Given the name C.U.R.E. Institute Hospital, Munsch’s health facility treats some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases. But as C.U.R.E. becomes fully operational, secrets from the establishment’s past begin to reveal themselves, and a new killer surfaces.
2. Return of Original Characters
Aside from Munsch, most of the characters who survived the Red Devil killing spree last season are returning in the new installment.
Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts), Chanel #2 (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin), who have fallen from grace since their release from the mental asylum, are going to be medical students at C.U.R.E.
Zayday Williams (Keke Palmer), who graduated from Wallace University in only two years, is now a training physician at C.U.R.E.
For reasons yet to be revealed, Hester (Lea Michele) — who was responsible for all the murders that happened at Wallace University last season — also ends up at C.U.R.E.
Former private security guard Denise Hemphill (Niecy Nash), on the other hand, now works as a high-ranking FBI Agent after going to Quantico for training.
Chanel’s on-and-off boyfriend Chad Radwell (Glen Powell) is also returning. However, how he will fit into the story remains unclear.
3. Fresh Faces
“Scream Queens” is introducing a bunch of new characters in Season 2:
- Dr. Brock Holt (John Stamos) - C.U.R.E.’s brilliant but secretive head surgeon, who happens to be the recipient of the world’s first hand transplant
- Dr. Cascade Cassadee (Taylor Lautner) - a doctor at C.U.R.E. who suffers from a strange medical condition and becomes the prime suspect when a series of tragic events plagues the hospital
- Chamberlain Jackson (James Earl) - a candy striper at C.U.R.E
- C.U.R.E.’s devious administrator played by Kirstie Alley
- Dr. Mike (Jerry O’Connell)
- Nurse Thomas (Laura Bell Bundy)
- Tyler (Colton Haynes) - a patient with a “hideous” illness
- Catherine Hobart (Cecily Strong) - a patient
- Bill (Jeremy Batiste)
- Jane (Trilby Glover)
- Randal (Kevin Bigley)
- Unspecified character portrayed by Cheri Oteri
4. Shirtless Scenes
Viewers can expect some shirtless scenes from the show’s male cast members, particularly from Stamos.
Lautner revealed to People last month that seeing Stamos without his shirt on has become a regular sight on the set of the series.
“We’ve only been filming for two and a half weeks, and John has been shirtless like five times,” Lautner said of the “Full House” actor, who revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he and Powell actually have a naked shower scene together.
5. Chanel’s Wedding?
Roberts sparked rumors that there might be wedding bells in store for her character after she was spotted wearing a white lace wedding dress on the set of the series in August.
In a number of photos obtained by the Daily Mail, a production assistant is seen carrying the long train of the actress’ short-sleeved frock as they walked to where cameras were set up on the show’s location in Pasadena, Calif.
The 25-year-old actress is also seen wearing a pair of pink slippers, pearl earrings, a pearl encrusted belt and a huge ring. See the actress’ candid shots here, here and here.
“Scream Queens” Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
