Worldwide storage maker Seagate on Monday released its new 15K high performance Cheetah hard drive with capacities up to 600 GB HDD.

The new a Cheetah 15K.7 enterprise hard drive is designed to work in a variety of server and storage applications, coming in a 3.5 inch form factor, and interfaces with 6 Gbps or 4 Gbps Fibre Channel controllers.

We are the first to market with a 15,000-rpm drive with 600-Gbyte capacity and with 6-Gbit SAS, said Teresa Worth, senior product marketing manager for Seagate's Enterprise Business unit.

It also features Seagate’s PowerTrim technology, which reduces power consumption and it has drive encryption capability to its distribution and retail channels for security purpose.
