Search parties have been organized in Texas to try and locate a young girl believed to be abducted over the weekend.

The abduction occurred Friday night while Darion Vence was driving to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston with his daughter, Maleah Davis, and an unnamed 2-year-old son. The family was on their way to pick up Maleah’s mother when Vence got out to see if one of the tires was damaged. A truck then pulled up behind the car.

Three men got out of the truck and sparked a conversation with Vence. He said that one of the men made "a comment saying your daughter looks very nice, looks very sweet." One of the men then knocked out Vence, causing him to lose consciousness.

The next thing Vence remembers is waking up on the side of Highway 6 and Highway 59 in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land with his 2-year-old son. However, the men were gone as was 4-year-old Maleah and Vence’s car, a silver Nissan Altima. Vence immediately got in touch with police who issued an Amber Alert for the northern Houston area.

Family friends organized the first search parties that went out Sunday night, searching the Sugar Land area and handing out missing child posters. The search parties grew Monday, with more groups driving to Sugar Land to join search efforts for Maleah.

It was also revealed that Maleah had recently undergone brain surgery and currently requires constant care. Amber Fannin, a family friend who helped organize the search parties, said “if you want to keep the car or keep whatever you found, that’s alright, but we just want her back safe and sound.”
