Seattle offense quiet, lose 2-0 to A’s
A's third basemen Scott Sizemore hit a homerun in the first inning and then Oakland would tack on another run in the fifth as they cruised to a 2-0 victory. The Seattle offense was quiet producing only 2 hits though pitcher Jason Vargas gave a strong performance on the mound allowing five hits.
Sizemore got him a couple times, but Jason threw the ball well again, said Seattle manager Eric Wedge. He gave us every opportunity to win the ballgame. You can't say enough about how consistent he's been. He was efficient all day long.
The Mariners look to awaken the offense as they try to climb to the AL West top spot being just three games back.
