Sebastian Stan Says ‘Avengers’ Cast Filmed Fake Scenes
The secrecy surrounding “Avengers 4” is at an all-time high with even the title still being withheld. The “Avengers: Infinity War” press tour featured stories of fake scripts and intense non-disclosure agreements. Now, Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan says he doesn’t even know if he is in the 2019 Marvel movie because he may have filmed scenes that were fake.
“There were things that we shot that were never going to even make it because it was just easier to convolute the whole thing,” Stan told Collider, noting the great lengths Marvel went to in order to prevent spoilers from leaking.
The actor, who stars in next month’s “Destroyer,” was asked about fake scripts, but Stan quickly noted that “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers 4” were filmed together. That means he isn’t even sure which scenes belonged to which movie or if the scenes that didn’t make it into “Infinity War” were just fake.
“Remember when I was shooting anything, nobody was ever telling me what was Part 1 or Part 2,” the Bucky Barnes actor said. “So the truth is I don’t even know if I’m in this film because what I shot was in Part 1. And anything that I shot may or may not have been in Part 1 or Part 2, but I still don’t know, right?”
Some scenes weren’t even for the movie but the trailer. Many fans noticed that the epic running shot, which featured most of the Earth-bound characters running through the woods in Wakanda, was a big focal point in the trailer that never even happened in “Avengers: Infinity War.” It even included Hulk, who refused to come out to fight in the spring movie. It was made just to throw fans off.
Stan, however, seems just fine with the level of secrecy at Marvel Studios. “In a way you go, alright that’s cool,” he added. “You know it’s gonna deliver on a level that we probably haven’t even really digested yet. Because that’s what they do best.”
“Avengers 4” will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
