Secret Service Clears Ted Nugent Of Threatening Obama At NRA Convention
The Secret Service concluded Thursday that conservative rocker Ted Nugent wasn't threatening President Barack Obama when he said at the NRA convention he would either be dead or in jail if Obama wins re-election.
I met with two fine, professional Secret Service agents in [Oklahoma] today, Nugent said on his website in a post titled The NRA Party Rocked, referring to the National Rifle Association's convention in St. Louis over the weekend. Good, solid, professional meeting concluding that I have never made any threats of violence towards anyone. The meeting could not have gone better. I thanked them for their service, we shook hands and went about our business. God bless the good federal agents wherever they may be.
A Secret Service spokesman told IBTimes that the agency does not anticipate any further action on Nugent.
The Secret Service inteview with Ted Nugent has been completed. The issue has been resolved, the spokesman said.
Earlier Thursday, the NRA took down the video of Nugent's remarks, the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters reported.
Nugent denied threatening the president when he said, If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.
Nugent also called the Obama administration criminals, vile, evil, and America-hating.
The right-wing rocker and fervent gun rights advocate has stood by his remarks.
I named names. I called out [U.S. Attorney General] Eric Holder ... I railed against our president for his engineered dismantling of the once greatest economy in the world. I reminded everyone how Hillary Clinton sides with the evil criminals of the U.N. instead of her own great nation, Nugent said on his website. I reminded good Americans that it isn't the enemies' fault for sneaking into the White House and abusing power, but rather we the people for bending over and allowing them to take corruption to a horrible new level.
The harsh rhetoric was not the first controversial statements from the potty-mouthed, conservative Nugent.
In a 1994 interview with Westword magazine, Nugent called then-First Lady Hillary Clinton a toxic c---, a b---- and a two-bit whore.
You probably can't use the term 'toxic c---' in your magazine, but that's what she is. Her very existence insults the spirit of individualism in this country. This b----is nothing but a two-bit whore for Fidel Castro, Nugent said.
In the same interview, Nugent derided Haitian immigrants who were fleeing their unstable homeland for the United States and slammed American immigration policy in general.
We should put razor wire around our borders and give the finger to any piece of s--t who wants to come here, Nugent said.
He also also derided Franklin D. Roosevelt's policies fighting the Great Depression in an interview last year with Salt TV.
The Great Society was a Numbnut Society and the New Deal was a Raw Deal, he said.
It seems no group or person is spared from Nugent's wrath. He even took aim at the Republican Party in the Salt TV interview, calling the GOP a bunch of wimps for being too inclusive.
They've been so concerned about having a big tent that they've let evil in the tent, he said.
