“Secrets and Lies” is back! The ABC drama, which premiered last summer, is returning to the network for its second season. The murder case may be new, but viewers will recognize Detective Andrea Cornell from Season 1.

The first installment of “Secrets and Lies” focused on the death of a 5-year-old boy named Tom Murphy (Aiden Malik). Neighbor Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) became the prime suspect in the case, and was ultimately imprisoned for the murder. He died behind bars, but Cornell (Juliette Lewis) wasn’t so certain that he was to blame. In the final episode of “Cornell Confidential,” a digital series that accompanied the show, Cornell went to Ben’s eldest daughter, Natalie (Indiana Evans), in the hopes that she’d be able to help her catch the real killer — Ben’s youngest daughter, Abby (Belle Shouse).

With the Murphy case solved, Detective Cornell returns in Season 2 to solve a new murder — the death of newlywed Kate Warner (Jordana Brewster). Learn more about the new set of characters that will get tangled up with Detective Cornell in “Secrets and Lies”:

Detective Andrea Cornell

Juliette Lewis is the only cast member returning to “Secrets and Lies” from Season 1. She’s the top homicide detective in the Charlotte Mecklenberg County Police Department and takes her job very seriously — so serious that her personal life fell apart because of it. She has an estranged husband named Ethan Barrett, and a daughter named Jennifer. Jennifer is behind bars for a reason that is unknown to viewers. More of Andrea Cornell’s backstory is set to be explored in Season 2.

Kate Warner

Kate is the victim in Season 2. She was the chief compliance officer at the Sherwood Equity Group (SEG), and married to the newly appointed CEO, Eric Warner (Michael Ealy). She was 36 years old when she was pushed off the roof and fell 12 stories to her death.

Eric Warner

Eric Warner just took over SEG from his father, John Warner (Terry O’Quinn). Besides gaining the new position, he also just got married to Kate. Eric has two siblings, Amanda (Mekia Cox) and Patrick (Charlie Barnett).

John Warner

John Warner built a successful business and is ready to pass it on to his eldest son, Eric. However, the party for his retirement goes awry when Kate is murdered.

Amanda Warner

Amanda is the second eldest Warner child. She is close with her family, but not part of the family business. She’s an attorney for the Public Defender’s office, and very protective of her loved ones. She was also very close with Kate, and was even the one that introduced her to her brother. The two knew each other from law school.

Patrick Warner

Patrick is the youngest in the family and a bit of a wild child. He works at the family company and is married to Melanie (AnnaLynne McCord).

Melanie Warner

Melanie is married to Patrick and a housewife who enjoys the finer things in life. She doesn’t exactly fit in with the rest of the family and butts heads with Amanda.

Neal Oliver

Neal (Eric Winter) is Eric’s best friend and works at SEG. He’s been through three marriages and doesn’t trust women.
