- The "Irresistible" singer thanked Olivia Rodrigo for her show and Gomez for being a great babysitter
Selena Gomez accompanied Jessica Simpson's 10-year-old daughter Maxwell to her first live concert.
In an Instagram Live stream with American Express Business for an episode of its series "Business Class: Office Hours," the celebrity mom of three got candid about how she felt about missing her daughter's first concert. According to her, the "Rare" singer joined her daughter to watch Olivia Rodrigo's "Sour" tour, which was Maxwell's first-ever concert.
"I was sad when Maxwell got to go to her first concert," Simpson was quoted by Entertainment Tonight as saying before adding, "Selena Gomez was her babysitter!"
The "I Think I'm In Love With You" singer explained that her daughter met a "really good friend" in Gomez's younger sister. So, the 29-year-old "Ice Cream" singer looked after them at the concert.
"So she went with Selena. She met a really good friend of Selena's little sister, so Max got to go to her first concert," Simpson shared. "I always thought it was going to be me at her first concert."
Even if she missed her daughter's first concert, Simpson found it cool for Maxwell to experience it because she's already 10, and the celebrity mom believed that "she's got to see a live show" at her age. The "Irresistible" singer was thankful to both Gomez and Rodrigo for being part of her daughter's first concert.
"So thank you, Olivia Rodrigo, for that show. And thank you, Selena, for being a great babysitter," Simpson added.
Simpson shares two more children with husband Eric Johnson aside from Maxwell, Ace, 9, and Birdie, 3.
Meanwhile, Gomez's "Only Murders in the Building" co-star Steve Martin wasn't pleased about her Emmy snub. Martin and Martin Short both received an Emmy nod for their acting in the American mystery-comedy TV series, but the "Wolves" singer didn't.
"We're thrilled at the nominations, not only for us but for the show. We're dismayed that Selena was not nominated because she's so crucial to our performances, really," he told The New York Times Tuesday.
Gomez had nothing but praises for Martin and Short when she spoke about them during the "Only Murders in the Building" Television Critics Association press panel in August 2021.
"They are so humble and they are kind, and they are there till the very end. They've set such an example for me. They've been doing this longer than I've been alive. I would be so lucky to have a career that lasted that long," Gomez said about her co-stars.
